The Association of Ontario Land Surveyors is sad to notify you of the death of Albert Henry "Ab" Heywood OLS# 1177 Ab passed away on the morning of September 24th. He leaves his wife Veronica (Vonnie) and his daughter Michele. He was predeceased by his son Andrew William and his daughter Marie Annette. His passions were his family, his beliefs, and boating with his buddy Rick. He was a long-time volunteer with his church, St Cyprian's Anglican Church, and the Canadian Cancer Society. A tremendous thanks to the whole palliative care team at North York General Hospital. A private funeral service will be held for close family and friends. The Association of Ontario Land Surveyors is sad to notify you of the death of W. Doug Smith OLS# 1403. Doug passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 29, 2019 with his loving wife and three children by his side. Doug Smith at the age of 73, beloved husband and best friend of Verna Smith (nee Ritchie). Proud father of Shelby (Keith), Jana and Doug Jr. Much loved grandfather and protector of Jacob "Bucky", Riley "Frank", Delaiden "Eddie", Samantha "Sambo" and Caleb "Gretzky". These nicknames were given to each one by Papa. Doug was born in Barrie to William Fredrick Smith and Ruby Winnifred Smith (nee Hill) and always talked about his great memories of his childhood here, playing sports and making life-long friends. He owned his own business as an Ontario Land Surveyor in Barrie and was very active in the community and service clubs. Doug had a fierce love for his family and enjoyed attending sporting events of all of his grandchildren. In his later years he and his wife enjoyed many "bucket list" trips together. He will be fondly remembered and lovingly missed by his immediate and extended family and friends. Friends and family will be received at ADAMS FUNERAL HOME, 445 St. Vincent St., Barrie (just north of Cundles Rd.) on Thursday from 6 - 9 p.m. Funeral service will be in the Chapel on Friday, October 4, 2019 at 11 o'clock with visitation from 10 a.m. A private family interment will be held in Barrie Union Cemetery. Memorial donations to ALS Society would be appreciated by the family. |
